Heart shaker card

I made this card for someone on request,  the words are given by the person. It's an anniversary card, and this couple is been married for almost  4 decades now. Myself married for almost a decade and a half,  I can totally relate and connect to the sentiment.... .lol.
I chose red and white colors for this card, in my opinion,  its a very balancing color for anniversary cards.
Yet again another shaker card, added heart sequins inside the shaker panel.  I made the shaker box and added it to the card.
I also stamped different size hearts to create the front panel,  used black ink for this.
A matching paper lace with hearts to finish off.

For me white is a summer color since here in Macau we get to see Mr. Sun only during summer and everything looks bright and white....and red is what you become after stepping in sun ;) . There are so many summer colors that I had stick with just these two.

Sweet Memories

Sharing a very different card. I used Tim Holtz bamboo embossing folder,  and dry embossed the card leaving some plain space on the top.  Added my sentiment on the top, which I don't think I have ever done! Added a paper tape under the sentiment, and a tiny bloom. That's it , I didn't wanted to add anything else to it.  Its a single layered card.
I really love the simplicity of this card.

To show my interpretation of woods, I bamboo embossed the front to show the wood theme, and chose a brown color to add wood color to it, and most importantly the word "Memories", in a lifetime we all have tons of memories, it is like you are in woods/jungle of memories. I know not everyone will agree with this, but this is just how I feel. This is a card for a reminder of few of the memories from our sweet times with a family member or friends.

Kheema Aloo masala ~ minced meat with potato curry

I though of finishing up this draft which has been sitting for a very long time on my blogger, I feel guilty for not putting up many recipes, I have many recipes as drafts, I just need to write and post, summer vacation I will be away from my craft supplies, so will catch up on recipes.

Today I am sharing kheema masala, it is a minced lamb dish, very popular from my hometown Hyderabad. There are many versions of this recipe available, this is my home recipe.
This is going to be my first lamb recipe on the blog. My family of four has basically given up on red meat, excluding me - I am already almost a vegetarian! But I cook meat for my hubby and kiddos.
You can cook this dish with beef too.

I cook many other lamb dishes,  will share as and when possible.

Lets look at the ingredients:

250 gms boneless minced lamb
1 big potato peels and cubed
1 medium sized onion
2 g slit green chilli
few mint leaves
1/4 tsp turmeric
3/4 tsp red chili powder(adjust to your taste)
1/2 tsp  garam masala
1/2 tsp coriander powder
coriander leaves
coconut curry paste
Tomato puree - 1/2 cup
salt to taste
1/2 TBsp oil
11/2 cups water

Homemade coconut curry paste:
dessicated coconut  - 2 TBsp
2 cloves
1/16 tsp ground cinnamon
poppy seeds 1 tsp(optional)
2 cloves garlic chopped
1" ginger chopped

blend the dry ingredients first, then add ginger and garlic and a little water to blend in a smooth paste.

coconut curry paste

Procedure:

1. Heat oil in a pan(I am using a tiny pressure cooker), add the onions and chili and saute till golden brown.

2. Once the onions are brown add the minced meat, potatoes, and the coconut paste, turmeric, chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt...mix well and let it cook till the meat leaves water and the water dries up completely.

3. This is how it should look.

4.  Now add tomato puree and saute till the puree is cooked, add water and cover it..and cook till the gravy thickens, and making sure the meat is cooked well too.

5. garnish it with fresh coriander leaves, you can add some lime juice too if you like bit tangy.
That's it enjoy it with biryani, veg pulao or roti/naan.
Hope you try making it and like it!

Next recipe will be Samosas.

You are the best

A very special card for someone very special in my life :)
It is a masculine card. I had up cycled the navy blue card stock, it came in with my kiddos school pictures as a protection.
I added a glossy white card stock at the bottom panel. Shaker cards are my favorites,  so ended up making another one. Added only blue and white sequins plus only one star, it has a special meaning for me..lol
The sentiment is from Avery Elle, and finally a chipboard lighthouse to finish off.
I absolutely love how this card has turned out.

I just couldn't help with the reflections on the shaker panel, in the  pictures.

I had just picked up the main colors from the dress.

I chose blue with white.

I know I had picked up a very different color, but I did spot it in the picture. I picked up the blue from the framed teddy? on the table, the round sequins are as in around the sun in the picture, and the stripes on the lighthouse from the stripes on the table.

Watercolor flowers

I am sharing a very bright and cheerful card, quite a contrast to what the weather here is at the moment. A subconscious me is thinking of my hometown Hyderabad, India,  where it is really bright and sunny now. Kiddos have just one more exam left and Friday they get their report cards and there comes the much awaited summer vacations.
OK onto my card now, since there are a few challenges calling for watercolors, I thought of making a card using one. Using water coloring after a while.
I drew flowers and colored using the Stabilo watercolor pencils, and then ran a lightly water dipped brush over. I also added contrasting dots on the card and water colored those too. Finally stamped the sentiment from Avery Elle.

This is my first time here, even though I am following this blog for quite sometime...I am glad that I finally made something for it!

Used watercolor pencils for my coloring!

I had used white as my neutral with these bright cheerful oranges!

CASE - ing

Sharing a quick card which I made yesterday evening. I am CASE-ing a very beautiful and vibrant card of Donna Mikasa at the Time Out.
Its a very colorful card and definitely has a happy vibe to it.
I kept the colors as  close to as possible,  I just loved the colors so much that I didn't want to change.
I was torn between honeycomb stencil and a chevron stencil, but as you can see I ended up using a chevron stencil.
I added the letters 'happy' of the sentiment and wrote birthday myself. Instead of butterfly and hearts,  I chose flowers to add my card.
I absolutely love how pretty this card has turned out.

Tissue transfer ~ fusion/CASE

Made this card just now, it took me quite a bit of time to make this one.
When I saw the fusion picture,  I wanted to use something on my card which has the same appeal as the picture. I have a tissue which goes well with the picture,  so used that.
Used the tissue transfer technique for this. I used a sizzlit die for the butterfly, added the double sided tape before running through the big shot, then added the golden glitter.
Added a golden twine at the top.
Stamped the sentiment from the STAMPlorations. A few rhinestones to finish off the card. I am very happy with the finished card. Glittery but CAS.

The process of transferring the tissue on the card stock.

I had used both the sketch as well as the picture, I was inspired by the golden color and the butterfly in the picture.

A flowery addiction

I am totally into flowers nowadays, this time I tried to make a stencil from my childhood memories. I used to play with paper and scissors a lot, and I used to tear of my notebook pages to create these floral patterns, and I must admit I did get in  trouble when my mom found out more floral patterns than the pages in my notebook....lol....good old days!
So I cut out the floral pattern,  but I am using only the outer ring here for the flowers(the inside pattern is like an intricate stencil,  will be using one of these days).
Ink in towards inwards, to get the gradient effect. Added some details and finished up the flowers.
The first one I made yesterday,I love how lovely these flowers have come out.
I used a turquoise ink and yellow ink plus a silvery color to do these flowers. Stamped the sentiment on the card, it is a one layer card.

I loved this color palette the moment I saw it, and I am glad I managed to use all the colors vividly!

The second card is also made using the same technique as above, but a different shape. I also  inked   some leaves here .

the process of inking, it is a very simple process.

Another entry here, these flowers were just calling for this challenge ;)

I have picked up some of the pinkish purple blooms from the inspiration picture.

---------------------------------------------------

The third card is based on a technique called "Bokeh".
I started with 2 shades of purple ink, and spread them around dot shapes , some dots are dark while some are very light, and some in between. After that I added some translucent glitter on a few dots, I am not sure if it is visible in my picture though.
Once the bokeh effect was then, I went on to add some frames on it, I don't own any frame stamps, but I do have a few die cut frames. Chose 2 sizes and just traced around those.
lastly, I used STAPlorations stamps to stamp in each frame.

An interesting challenge, it took me sometime to come up with a card for this one!

This was the first time I heard this term, but it was fun to work on something new!
